Halloween – a time for scares, terror and fear. I’ve always known that the political lines we draw inside the United States were some of the most scary, opinionated, territorial demarcations that can be made, but 1 year ago today, I began a relationship with one of all-too-few people that offer up a platform for thought, opinions, and well – deafening weekly audience shout-outs.
All of my adult life has been spent sending volleys to both sides of the political spectrums, mostly because “being a cartoonist in the middle shooting at both sides” has made me more cash cartooning than standing to one side or the other. My personal political leanings are strange for an 1.) Artist, 2.) Broadcaster 3.) Dude that, because of multiple-chosen professions, deals with many more liberal-minded people than not.
I definitely lean conservatively on most subjects, but love to discuss just about anything with anyone. This provides something of a paradox for sure and it makes another unique arena to establish opinion, thought and ideas. The gist about podcasting, as it has become with most things in my life, is that this has all become about sharing perspectives. Podcasting is capturing those perspectives and sharing them with others around me in my sphere of influence.
Enter Mark Bland.
Mark Bland is a name that many will recognize, but even more will gloss over – but there’s something to listen to here. Show me another liberal stage that opens it’s doors to opinion, in particular in the St. Louis market? That’s kind of what I mean. While Mark’s more entertaining programs haven’t included politics, the fact remains that there is quality, value and a budding nugget that has yet to be unearthed here. The experiment of Mark continues in his most recent episode this week as his Halloween-inspired episodes herald the arrival of The Paranormal Task Force from right here in St. Louis, Missouri! So I call on you to not only listen to this most recent episode, but to listen to previous episodes and send feedback on what you hear. Tell us your thoughts and let’s help to guide a talent that I’d like to hone into something attention-getting – sure, but also find a clever, unexplored niche’ that showcases his talents and interests into another “different flavor of ice cream” on the 2GuysTalking Podcast Network. Enjoy!
